You fi nd private accommodations or Bed and Breakfasts
in private homes, which open their doors to
visitors in the area. It is not a hotel or inn, and the
standard may vary somewhat from place to place.
You can fi nd accommodation, that off er seperate
bathrooms for each room with nice shared kitchen
or for example holiday apartments. And they have
a very high standard. You may also come across
places, where the room is in a stable wing, where
you will have to cross a yard to go to the bathroom
As a general rule, you will fi nd no more than one
- maximum two - bathrooms in a private home.
We thus advice you to contact the host, if you have
specifi c requests.
Regardless of the standard it is almost always the
charming personal attention and special added
value, that encourages the hundreds of thousands
of visitors to stay in this type of accommodation,
and the standard is usually very high.
Many hosts off er a discount for stays exceeding more
than 3 days. As a general rule, there are linen,
towels, breakfast (served or self served) and VAT
included in the price. But it is not always the case.
So please ask the host, when you make the booking,
which services that are in fact included in the prices.
Prices of accommodation can vary from place to
place. A higher price does not necessarily refl ect
Prices are very diff erent, depending on whether you
want to stay in a large city or in the countryside, in
densely populated areas with many sights and attractions
or less visited rural areas.
Booking and payment in advance
You can generally prebook your stay by contacting
the host. In some cases you will be asked to pay a
deposit, when booking.
Please be aware that most hosts will ask you to pay
cash upon arrival. Few hosts accept credit cards.
In several areas in Denmark the tourist offi ces receives
bookings and reservations on behalf of the
hosts. But the procedure is basically the same, as if
you contact the hosts directly.
