Visitors to the Bakkehus Museum can see the house as it might have been when Kamma and Knud Lyne Rahbek lived here from 1802 until 1830. Visitors entering the museum will feel as if the couple have just left the building and might return at any moment. The museum aims to preserve and enhance the special atmosphere of the historic house and personal possessions of the Rahbeks from their lifetime. Their books, as well as their letters, furniture and paintings are on display. The house with its unique collection and history has long been a hub for the study and appreciation of literature, culture, and art from the 18th and 19th century.
