It is the home of one of the world’s most renowned collections of Islamic Art displaying art from the 7th to 19th century, from Spain in the west to India in the east. The unique collection of European 18th century art can be seen in elegant period rooms in the very home of the founder C. L. David (1878-1960). The gallery with Danish early modern art displays a significant number of paintings by the internationally recognized Danish artist, Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916). Storm P. was quite a unique personality, and with his numorous daily stripes he has had a significant impact on Danish humour and selfunderstanding, on Danish identity and cultural heritage. His works are about being human, and how we act in relation to each other, and the museum draws a picture of an outstanding artist who even today can make us look at ourselves and society around us with a fresh eye. In addition to the main Storm P. exhibition, the museum shows alternating special exhibitions. On show in 2015 is Rune T. Kidde, presenting the works of multitalented cartoonist and storyteller Rune T. Kidde, and from September PLAY about the world and images of digital games.
